Mom called this afternoon just to showed off to me their Winter Soltice Dinner menu, there was braised duck, stewed chicken feet with mushroom, tender boiled chicken and etc. Which made me feel so lonely because I used to spent all those celebrations with family every year, even during my college years I had Mei Yee to prepare Tang Yuan for me, where this year, I had economic rice at home alone. Huh...
But thanks to Wendy and Carol, I feel being loved again when they called me out for dessert. LOL!
Mrs. Lu my mother believes, you'll get bad luck for the next three years if you washed your hair on Winter Soltice day itself. So washing hair is strictly prohibited by my mom every year this time.
Which explains my gross and oily hair from the pic above. =.=
I will think of my grandma when talk about this little balls made up of glutinous rice flour.
She told us we can only eat the amount of balls according to our age. Like I'm 21 this year, I suppose to eat 21 balls. Not more or less, have to be the exact amount. And she said the correct way to eat Tang Yuan is actually to swallow them straight after you put them in your mouth, do not ever chew. LOL!
Taufu Fa Tang Yuen.
Which has peanut filling inside. My loves!
